Christian was educated at Woodcote High School, Purley. He then attended East Surrey College where he achieved a national diploma in engineering. After working for a friends tree business for many years and learning the trade, he then attended Merrist Wood Arboriculture College in Guildford where he acquired the city and guilds N.P.T.C qualifications listed at the bottom of the page.
